Volunteering with ASA, CSSA, and SSSA is a meaningful way to contribute to the scientific community while growing professionally and building valuable connections. This platform serves as your central hub for exploring and expressing interest in volunteer opportunities across the Societies.

Review Volunteer Opportunities Below

Help recognize excellence in research, education, outreach, and leadership across our disciplines. These committees review nominations for prestigious awards given to established professionals and leaders. These committees generally review applications in April or May each year.

Participate in the review of nominations for the highest honor awarded by ASA, CSSA, or SSSA. Fellows Committees evaluate candidates who have made exceptional contributions to their field and Society. These committees generally review applications in April or May each year and have a higher time commitment than other award committees due to the number of applications.

Support the next generation of scientists by reviewing applications for scholarships, travel grants, or participating in student program planning. Award committees often work during the spring and summer and review applications in April or May each year.

Review member applications for travel awards that expand access to CANVAS and its career development opportunities. These committees generally review applications in July or August each year.

Support member programs by joining a committee that contributes to programs at CANVAS and beyond for different member or interest groups.

The editorial boards uphold the editorial standards of our Societies and the peer review process by shepherding papers through the peer review process. There are roles available for a variety of experience levels and time commitments.

Contribute to the growth and development of students and early career professionals through mentoring programs, educational resources, student competitions, and graduate/undergraduate engagement.

Promote inclusion and uphold ethical standards across the Societies. Volunteers support diversity initiatives and guide policies that foster accountability and belonging.

Engage with national and global policy efforts that impact our disciplines. Volunteers contribute to science advocacy, policy recommendations, and public awareness of agronomic, crop, and soil sciences.

Work with partner organizations to strengthen connections between ASA, CSSA, SSSA, and related groups. These committees help advance shared goals in education, outreach, and the sciences of ASA, CSSA and SSSA.
